The Energy Group was created in response to the emerging market for the generation of energy by the private sector in Costa Rica. The Energy Group is composed by a team of experts in Energy Law devoted to International Business Transactions and Foreign Investments. The following presentations are a reflection of the current laws for the participation of private generators. Costa Rica is in the process of modernizing their energy and telecommunications sectors and their monopoly of these sectors for competition by private companies in certain areas of the generation, distribution, and exports of energy. Although there is still a lot of negotiating left to do by many sectors in the Costa Rican society, we believe that fundamental changes will take place. Private Energy Generation
